First Monday Monthly Book Club

January 20. 1 p.m.: Diane Sanders will join us to talk about The Detroit Radio Information Service (DRIS), which is southeast Michigan’s Radio Reading/Audio Information Service for people with disabilities. It is a special audience service of WDET 101.9 FM — Detroit’s NPR station and Wayne State University

February 16: 1 p.m. – Ather Jammoa from A.T. Guys is an assistive technology trainer who teaches blind students of all ages.Ather will join us to discuss A.I. for the visually impaired.

March 16: 1 p.m. – Birding By Ear and Beyond: Donna Posont hosts Birding by Ear and Beyond meetings once a month. She teaches people how to identify birds by their songs, and helps people experience nature with all available senses. Her efforts with Birding by Ear and Beyond have received national attention.

April 20: 1 p.m. – Share your favorite tools and hacks! During this meeting, there will be no guest speaker. Everyone in the group will take turns talking about your favorite hacks and tools to navigate daily life. Have you found something helpful recently? Let’s talk about it!
