September 22, 1 p.m.: Chef Debra Erickson from The Blind Kitchen will join us to discuss adaptive tools, helpful strategies, and cooking knowledge for blind and vision-impaired people who want to cook safely, confidently, and independently. October 20, 1 p.m.: Laurie Craig, a psychologist for 30 years, who specialized in helping people facing visual disabilities will discuss with the group ways to stay positive and go over a few mindfulness techniques. Wednesday, September 24, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Leader Dogs Campus Join us at this free event to learn more about services available to people in Michigan who are blind, visually impaired, or have low vision. Meet with representatives from a variety of agencies and organizations serving seniors and those with low vision. Hosted in partnership with Leader Dogs for the Blind. New catalog for searching and ordering books Starting mid August there will be a new catalog for the Braille and Talking Books Library of Michigan that will allow talking books users to more easily search and order books. Look for the link on otbs.rhpl.org BARD 2.0 Website Everyone who uses BARD should have access to the updated website for BARD—the NLS calls it BARD 2.0. It has been redesigned with a sleeker feel, better search functions, including the ability to search your wishlist, and other useful features.
