Staff Book Recommendations The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton (DB111364) Born in the middle of a storm that has devastating consequences for her family, Wanda grows up in a Florida that is falling apart due to dramatic changes in the weather patterns. A force of nature herself, Wanda must learn to survive in an evolving society. This book is a sad, but hopeful imagining of what we might face in the future as a consequence of climate change. Wanda is an unforgettably strong character and the descriptions of nature and its power are haunting and beautiful. — Alice, Librarian Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano (DB102226) Finlay Donovan is a recently divorced, struggling author whose life appears to be falling apart. During a meeting with her agent in a Panera, a woman at the next table overhears and misinterprets their conversation and leaves Finlay a note asking her to murder her husband. After a botched information-gathering encounter with the target and with the help of her former nanny, Finlay’s life becomes stranger by the day. This is a light, fun mystery where the reader must suspend belief and reality. Others in the series include Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘em Dead (DB106920) and Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun (DB112209). — Mary, Librarian Get Your Newsletter by Email If you prefer to receive your newsletter by email or if you would like to receive periodic updates about OTBS news and programs in your inbox, send an email to otbs@rhpl.org.
